Curriculum Roger Iván

Dr. Rodríguez-Vivas is currently a full-time Professor of veterinary parasitology and parasitic diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary of Science of the Autonomous Yucatan University (FMVZ-UADY) in Mexico. He graduated as a Doctor in Veterinary Science at FMVZ-UADY and followed by MVSc and PhD studies at the University of Liverpool, UK. Currently, he is the head of the Veterinary Parasitology laboratory at FMVZ-UADY. From 2006 to 2010 he was president of the Mexican Association of Veterinary Parasitologists and currently is the president of the Inter-University Network of Animal Health in Mexico. Dr. Rodriguez-Vivas has a strong record of research that aims to improve understanding of the diagnosis, epidemiology and control of tick and tick-borne diseases. He has published 112 scientific papers in refereed journals and is author of three books: a) Diagnostic Techniques in Veterinary Parasitology, b) Major Diseases of Economic Importance in Animal Production, and c) Canine dirofilariosis. He has supervised 29 graduate and 38 postgraduate theses, and participated in 161 events to present the progress of his research in national and international forums. He is a member of the National Research System of CONACYT in Mexico (Level II). His research projects are related to animal heath, particularly parasitic diseases (helminths, protozoa and arthropods) affecting domestic and wild animals and their impact in public health.
